Off-stream pond construction
Off-stream pond design

Building a pond off-stream permits control of the water entering the pond and therefore reduces the rate of siltation.

With well designed off-stream pond andattendant water control structures, it is also possible to shut off the stream supply altogether to allow pollutants to bypass the off-stream pond if the need arises.

Ferns at pond rim

These days, an off-stream pond is the only type of stream-fed pond that the Environment Agency will be inclined to permit. Construction of an off-stream (stream-fed) pond invariably requires approval from the Environment Agency.

Off-stream pond planting
Off-stream pond maintenance and repair

We plant, restore and repair off-stream ponds and attendant water control structures, banks and bypass streams, always having regard to the creation and maintenance of sustainable and diverse habitat - that's where the plants come in!

An island in the middle of a pond ruins the long view across the water from every direction.
