A jetty by the side of a pond or lake, with or without a boat moored alongside, makes a great place to congregate and entertain, provided it is of sufficient size. A jetty will, of course, add visual interest and be an attraction to those wandering around the garden and the pond or lake on which it is placed. Is it possible to wander past a jetty without walking to its end? We think not. Our favourite material for fixed jetty construction: green (uncured) oak. However, of late we have been using recycled plastic lumber (a sort of plastic timber) for the invisible parts, the sub-structure - It won't rot in a lifetime!
