When designing, building or managing a fishing pond - one that is primarily to be used for fishing - due consideration must be given to the maintenance of a good ecosystem and habitat suitable for the type of fish being kept. Inevitably plants in and around the pond will play a vital role in maintaining the health of the pond. In addition to, and alongside, the obvious ecosystem management issues, consideration must also be given to such concerns as accessibility and aesthetics. Often, a delicate balancing act.
